These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Catalogued, LLC (“Catalogued”, “we”, “us”), a Delaware limited liability company, and govern your use of the Catalogued mobile app, websites, and related services. By creating an account or using Catalogued, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
Who can use Catalogued
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for services like this one. If you are under 18, you may use Catalogued only with the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 13 and will close any such account we learn of.
Your account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Provide accurate information, use one account per person, and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Your content
You retain ownership of the reviews, comments, lists, profile media, and other content you create. You grant Catalogued a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the service in accordance with your supported privacy settings. This license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies that remain temporarily in backups or are legally required to be retained.
Community standards
Catalogued is a place to talk about books. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You may not post content that is harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, deceptive, unlawful, infringing, or invasive of another person’s privacy, and you may not target, impersonate, or spam other readers. Do not scrape Catalogued, bypass access controls, misuse the API, or use automated systems without our written permission.
Every review, comment, and profile has a Report option, and you can block any reader to stop seeing their content and stop them from interacting with you. Reports go to a person, not a queue that is never read. We review every report and act on confirmed violations as soon as we can, normally within a few days, by removing the content and, for serious or repeated abuse, suspending or ejecting the account that posted it. We may also remove content or restrict accounts whenever reasonably necessary to protect readers, rights holders, or the service.
Book information
Titles, contributors, descriptions, cover images, and other book information shown in Catalogued (“book metadata”) are licensed to Catalogued by third-party data providers and are protected by their rights. You may view book metadata inside the service for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, distribute, license, sell, scrape, export in bulk, or otherwise transfer book metadata or related materials received through Catalogued. If a provider’s license to Catalogued ends, your right to use that metadata ends with it, and you must delete any copies in your possession or control. Your own reading data, reviews, and lists remain yours and are not affected by this section.
Copyright and DMCA notices
We respect the intellectual property of others and expect readers to do the same. If you believe content on Catalogued infringes a copyright you own or control, send a notice to our designated agent: Catalogued, LLC, Attn: DMCA Agent, support@cataloguedbooks.com (postal address as listed in the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory). Your notice must include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3): identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the material you want removed and where it appears in Catalogued, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner, and your physical or electronic signature.
When we receive a valid notice we remove or disable access to the material and notify the person who posted it. That person may send a counter-notice that meets the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g); if they do, we may restore the material after ten business days unless the claimant tells us they have filed a court action. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Catalogued Pro and App Store purchases
Catalogued’s core reading features are free. Catalogued Pro may be offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription or as a one-time lifetime unlock. The app shows the price and purchase period before you confirm. Apple charges your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends; you can manage or cancel it in your App Store subscription settings. A lifetime unlock does not renew.
Purchases, refunds, billing, and restoration are also subject to Apple’s applicable App Store terms. Prices and available plans may change prospectively; changes do not remove access already provided by a completed lifetime purchase.
The service
Catalogued may change as we improve it, and features may be added, changed, suspended, or discontinued. We aim to keep the service reliable, but provide it on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Book metadata, ratings, recommendations, and reader-created content may be incomplete or inaccurate and should not be treated as professional advice.
Ending use
You may stop using Catalogued at any time and can request account deletion in Profile Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for a material or repeated breach of these terms, unlawful conduct, or a serious risk to other people or the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability, will survive.
Liability and changes
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Catalogued is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited in your jurisdiction.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protections that cannot be waived. Before starting a formal dispute, please write to us so we can try to resolve it informally.
We may update these terms as the service or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects your rights. Continuing to use Catalogued after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
